The stress transfer processes occurring at the fibre/matrix interface
can be described by analytical models. Those models are based upon
some assumptions.
To estimate those assumptions and the results we got by applying the analytical models, here we modelised a fibre in its matrix
(problem with axial symmetry around the fiber's axis and with planar symmmetry accross the central fiber's section) and we numerically
computed the stresses created by an imposed displacement at the end of the VER.
We made an elastic computation on a Glass/Epoxy combination, that allows to compare with the results we analytically got by applying the elastical stress transfert model (shear lag model). Computations were achieved with the software SYSTUS+ which is developed by SYSTUS INTERNATIONAL. The results are shown in an applet that allows to visualize the steps of imposed displacement. |
